HBF coronavirus webinar
The Home Builders Federation is launching a series of ‘HBF Live Events’ that will bring the voices and views of the industry’s experts together exclusively for HBF members.
The first Webinar on the morning of June 11 will see leading industry figures, including Secretary of State Robert Jenrick discuss the market and the big issues facing house builders and suppliers as the industry charts its way out of the coronavirus crisis.
Alongside Robert Jenrick will be Savills director of residential research Lucian Cook; David Campbell, commercial director at NHBC, chief economist at Nationwide Robert Gardner, plus HBF executive chairman Stewart Baseley,
The Webinar will start at 10:30 and last 90 minutes and will be FREE for HBF members.
I hope you found the HBF Live Webinar useful, we had a fantastic response from HBF members and an audience of more than 550 people attended this first event.
Thanks for submitting questions too. We received more than we could answer during the event and have responded to delegates individually where appropriate. Of course, a lot of the questions were submitted anonymously, so we are unable to respond to those, but many were concerning three important issues: Building Regulations; Help to Buy; and, Planning.
On Building Regulations, there were a lot of questions regarding the changes planned to Approved Documents L (Conservation of fuel and power) and F (Ventilation) during 2020 and whether they will be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. HBF is currently raising this issue with MHCLG on a very regular basis and we will inform members as soon as we hear that a decision has been made.
Similarly, on Help to Buy, we received a large amount of questions asking whether the current Help to Buy scheme would be extended beyond 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on build programmes and anticipated completion dates for homes. Again, this is a live conversation with government at the moment and we will inform members as soon as we have any news on this.
We received a range of questions regarding planning issues and, as mentioned at this event, we have decided to dedicate part of the next webinar in July to planning – HBF’s Planning Director, Andrew Whitaker, will feature, together with other invited guests.
