Home Builders Federation Presents ‘Foundations for The Future’, a collaboration with ITN Productions

18th – 20th october 2016

In a unique communications partnership, the Home Builders Federation (HBF) and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style programme which will explore the future of home building and give a full understanding as to how HBF is working with Government to meet its ambition of delivering ‘a million new homes by 2020’.

The way the industry works with Government is changing constantly.  HBF works hard to ensure senior politicians and officials are aware of the challenges faced by their members; and that the policies developed  are workable for the industry such that  they can deliver the volume of homes the Government wants and the country needs.

To inform ‘Foundations for the Future’, ITN are asking HBF members to complete a short Survey.

Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, we will look at the extraordinary breadth of the sector and how it affects the people in it. We’ll look to understand the processes and problems the home builders have to tackle regarding planning, the skills gap in the market, and the affordability factors people are facing to get on the property ladder.

The aim is to heighten awareness among policy makers, politicians and the wider public about the challenges faced and how policy needs to evolve in order for Government targets to be achieved.

‘Foundations for the Future’ will be an in-depth, online programme providing a unique platform to stimulate debate. It will champion collaboration, celebrate innovation and encourage the exchange of ideas.

The news-style piece will combine key interviews and news-style reports with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations who are working in the sector.

‘Foundations of the Future’ will be launched at a specially scheduled event at The Build Show during UK Construction Week on the 18th – 20th October. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring HBF members, professional partners, influential individuals within the government, as well as journalists, writers and bloggers.

Stewart Baseley, Executive Chairman, Home Builders Federation, said: “The industry has a very strong story to tell and is committed to delivering the high quality homes the country needs. Over the past two years output has increased significantly as housebuilders have reacted to the positive stimuli put in place by Government. However, some constraints still remain and Government and the industry need to continue to work together on developing policies that will allow increases in output to continue.”

Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: ‘ITN Productions is delighted to be partnering with the Home Builders Federation, in examining the way in which we meet the demand for housing in this country, and explore the complex issues that might stand in the way of meeting government targets set for 2020. We’re excited to embark on this project and engage with key organisations and people dedicated to shaping the right future for home builders and home owners.”
