Future Talent Network Webinar: Mental Health awareness in home building

Poor mental health can affect anyone at any time with one in four of us experiencing a mental health problem each year. The home building industry is not immune to these challenges and is working with employers and charities to work collectively to support our workforce. In 2019, we began working with the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity to raise awareness of mental health issues and signpost help available. The Lighthouse Construction Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families. It also runs a 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline offering a range of confidential wellbeing support that is complemented by its Construction Industry Helpline App.

Sarah Bolton, charitable service manager at Lighthouse and Paul Curry, chair of HBF's mental health group and group training manager at Persimmon Homes, discuss what is currently happening in the industry and how employers and employees can help to get involved and combat this mental health crisis.
