HBF Response - Proposals for amending Part G (Hygiene) of the Building Regulations and Approved Document G: Consultation

4 Aug, 2008

HBF has responded to the CLG consultation on amending Part G (Hygiene). We have suggested that it would be sensible to defer this amendment and to look at amending both Parts G and H (Drainage) at the same time as implied by the proposals in the recent consultation on The Future of Building Control. As far as the actual questions are concerned, we have expressed concerns about non wholesome water supplies and the potential impact on drains and sewers of low water usage. The RIA demonstrates that thermostatic control valves on taps are not cost-effective but other measures to improve hot water safety are included.
