Following the Grenfell Tower disaster in 2017, the fallout of this and also the detailed Hackitt review has introduced the need to holistically analyse the design, construction, occupation and ownership of Tall Buildings. The Tall buildings group has been formed in order to strategically review the challenges and solutions involved with developing tall buildings from Fire strategy, material choices, regulatory reform and best practice responses to safe building performance. It also works collaboratively with cross industry working parties to respond to government consultations and regularly feeds in to emerging government policy.
