South Hams District Council published draft SPG on Affordable Housing for consultation purposes on 12 February. The SPG is based upon and derived from policy H6 of the Devon Structure Plan First Review 1995-2011 and Policy SHDC2 of the South Hams Local Plan 1989 to 2001.
The HBF has raised a number of objections to the Draft SPG and has written to the Government Office for the South West seeking their assistance in ensuring that the Council does not adopt SPG when its status is questionable, that the SPG does not result in the development of sites becoming uneconomic or unviable and therefore reducing house building rates further and that steps will be taken by the Council to make significant progress with statutory plan preparation.
