Member briefing: Better Regulation with the intention of reducing the burden of red tape.

1 December, 2011

Cl:aire (Contaminated Land : Applications In the Real Environment) are working closely with government, HBF and other interested bodies on the broad subject of Better Regulation with the intention of reducing the burden of red tape.

Their current work is directed at the regulations surrounding contaminated land and its remediation. They have asked whether we can provide anecdotal examples of how planning consents have been delayed as a consequence of the land being contaminated. These delays could take many forms including  but not limited to

Unnecessary requests for reports Delays in acting on reports when provided Delays in clearing conditions attached to planning consents

If you have any examples that you feel might inform the recommendations that Cl:aire put forward, could you please forward them to Michael Powell at Michael.Powell@hbf.co.uk.

We hope to provide any evidence to Cl:aire by 24th January.
