HBF Response - CLG Consultation Draft PPS Planning and Climate Change

8 Mar, 2007

HBF submitted its response to the consultation PPS regarding Planning and Climate Change on 8th March 2007.

The response concentrates on two key issues for the industry: the proliferation of local policies seeking to impose various levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes prior to the targets set out in the Code; and the blanket requirement for a minimum of 10% of the proposed energy use of the development to be produced from on-site renewable technologies.

HBF is committed to taking the industry forward on tackling environmental performance of buildings and energy issues. The response strongly suggests that these are more appropriately handled by legislation other than planning policy.
