The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has appointed Andy George as Director of Industry Attraction and Skills. Andy joins HBF from Barratt Redrow, where he held the position of Head of Talent Management.

Having worked in the home building industry for almost 20 years, Andy has been responsible for developing multiple critical development frameworks and strategies beyond home building, within both the hospitality and supermarket sectors, accumulating a wealth of experience in key HR and development roles.

As a member of the Home Building Skills Partnership expert panel, Chair of the HBF Skills and Supply Chain Engagement group, and previously Chair of the HBF Career Attract Group, Andy has worked alongside HBF to drive collaboration and attraction activity across the home building sector for a number of years.

He replaces Jenny Herdman, who retired from her role as Director of Home Building Skills Partnership in March this year.

Andy’s appointment also follows the Home Building Skills Partnership’s transition from operating as a separate brand, to being known as HBF’s Industry Attraction and Skills team.

Andy George, Director of Industry Attraction and Skills, says: “I am delighted to be joining HBF at this exciting time for the industry and look forward to collaborating with its members as part of HBF’s Industry Attraction and Skills team.”

On Andy’s appointment, Neil Jefferson, HBF’s Chief Executive, said: “The delivery of much-needed housing depends on a skilled workforce and, with Government’s ambitious targets, this is a pivotal time for the homebuilding industry to tackle the skills crisis.

“Andy’s breadth of experience securing diverse pipelines of talent will be crucial as we work to address the skills gap in the sector.”
