Committee meetings and structure

The HBF Health and Safety Committee meet every quarter to discuss industry guidance documentation in development, the progress of working groups, and any relevant industry issues or best practice.

The committee has four standing working groups which address the objectives of the committee, as established by the Health and Safety Steering Group and wider committee. Other sub groups are formed to deal with arising issues.

The committee maintains close links with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), with a representative sitting on the committee.

RIDDOR data collection and reporting

Health and safety data is collected quarterly from all volunteer member organisations from 1 April to 31 March.

The collated data is analysed and used to target effective improvements in the health and safety performance of the house building sector of the construction industry.

RIDDOR data collected from members has allowed us to identify where accidents are happening on site and across which job roles.

The trends identified in this analysis allows us to set our rolling objectives on an annual basis, leading to reduced accident statistics in the sector.

Data collection for HBF Health and Safety reports takes place on the HBF Stats Online platform, produced with the support of SSUK.

If you have any questions about the new platform, contact Steph Calder.

Health and safety resources

The HBF Health and Safety Committee's working groups meet throughout the year to work on industry guidance documents and advise on HBF Health and Safety campaigns.

Guidance documents are created to support SME home builders and the wider home building industry in improving health and safety standards.

We have collated and created a number of health and safety resources for the home building industry.
