The Power to Belong

Every year, home builders provide significant investment to communities through financial contributions paid to local authorities to support community infrastructure. These contributions help fund improvements to schools, healthcare, transport links, parks, leisure facilities and other amenities.

However, because funding is often pooled and local authorities can face capacity and delivery pressures, there can be a delay before these improvements are delivered. As a result, many communities are unaware that investment in new facilities and infrastructure has been made possible through home building.

The Power to Belong campaign aims to change that by highlighting the positive contribution home builders make to communities across the country.

Part of the Power to Move campaign

Following the success of New Homes Week 2026, the Home Builders Federation (HBF) is launching Power to Move – a long-term programme of campaign activity designed to support the industry in shifting perceptions of new build homes and highlight the wider benefits of home building.

Campaign activity will be delivered through themed Power to… moments, each focusing on a different benefit. While campaigns will launch at a specific point, the assets, evidence and messaging are designed to provide ongoing support for member communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement.

Power to Belong is the first campaign focus within the wider Power to Move programme, highlighting the role home builders play in building and supporting local communities.
