As the home building industry works to strengthen its future workforce, closer collaboration with the Further Education (FE) sector is becoming increasingly important. This joint webinar from HBF and the Department for Education’s Train Others in Further Education campaign explored how site-based experience can support colleges and help improve student work-readiness. Delivered as part of HBF’s Partner a College (PaC) programme, the session highlighted practical ways workers in the home building sector can get involved, from guest talks to workshop support. Speakers also discussed FE teaching as a career pathway for later-career industry workers, outlining the support available, the transition from construction into FE, and the benefits of flexible, purpose-driven roles within FE.

Speakers include:

  • Andy George, Director of Industry Attraction and Skills, HBF
  • Paul Curry, Head of Training, Persimmon Homes PLC
  • Andrew King, FE Teacher Recruitment Policy Lead, Department for Education
  • Neil Dolan, Curriculum Manager, Hugh Baird College
  • Scott Brown, Carpentry and Joinery Lecturer, Hugh Baird College
