HBF Breifing note - HBF schedule of reactions by local authorities to Government statements

13 Jul, 2010

Please find attached the list that the HBF has been assembling which documents actions by local authorities in England in response to the series of Government statements regarding the revocation of the RS and the RSS housing targets – this includes positive as well as negative reactions. These have been categorised by the HBF by degree of seriousness, with those that have merely suspended LDF work pending clarification from Government as to what its national planning strategy might look like falling into the least worse category (category 1) while category 4 represents (in our eyes) more serious cases where allocations have been removed from plans seemingly without the justification of new or additional evidence except that LPAs are no longer bound by the RSS targets.

LPAs that are just carrying on and not adjusting their targets or allocations, or delaying or reviewing LDFs in the light of the announcements, are not included in the list (e.g. Birmingham City) – these are neutral.

This list will be kept up-to-date and the latest version will be available for members in the planning section of the HBF website.

Many thanks to all of you for feeding this information through to us. We’d be grateful of you could continue to feed information through to Andrew or I so we can keep this list up-to-date.
