HBF BOLSTERS BOARD

John Tutte, Group Chief Executive of house builder Redrow Homes; and Gerald Malton, Executive Chairman of Fairview New Homes are to join the HBF board.

HBF executive chairman Stewart Baseley said; “I am delighted that Gerald and John will be joining the HBF board.  Both are experienced industry leaders, with considerable expertise on a range of industry issues that will enable them to make a valuable contribution to HBF’s work. They will supplement and enhance the skills of the existing board members and I look forward to working closely with them to try and create a better climate within which our industry can operate.”

John Tutte said today; “I am delighted to be joining the HBF board. HBF are hugely influential in both shaping our industry and working with government to deliver much-needed new homes. I very much look forward to contributing at board level to support the HBF’s important work.”

Gerald Malton said; “I am pleased to be joining the HBF Board at a time when homebuilding is such an important priority for the country and look forward to working with my colleagues in promoting the conditions for our industry to succeed.”

About John and Gerald

John started his career in civil engineering before becoming involved in housebuilding in the early 80's. He previously worked for Wimpey Homes and Wilson Connolly, where he became Chief Executive. He joined Redrow plc in 2002.  He has been on the main board since 2002 and was promoted to Group Managing Director in September 2009 as part of a re-organisation when Redrow's founder, Steve Morgan, re-joined the company as Chairman. John was appointed Group Chief Executive in July 2014. 

After taking a degree in mathematics at Cambridge University, Gerald trained as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse. He qualified in 1986 and subsequently spent two years in London’s financial markets with the Alexander Laing & Cruickshank group. 

He joined the listed commercial property developer/investor Frogmore Estates plc in 1988 remaining with the business through to its privatisation in 2000. 

Gerald joined Fairview as Finance Director in December 2000 prior to the launch of the management buyout that was completed early the following year.  He was appointed Managing Director in 2009 and became Chairman in 2013.

Gerald is Chairman of the Metropole Group of the HBF that represents the middle tier of home-builders across the UK.
