The housing crisis, caused by the long-term undersupply of new homes, is affecting more people than ever and the only realistic solution is to continue to build more homes to help address ongoing affordability issues and support aspirational first-time home owners struggling to get on the housing ladder. The housing crisis is, therefore, one of a number of political priorities for the 2017 General Election at both a local and national level with political parties focusing on policies to address the chronic shortage of housing that has developed over several decades.
