Skills Framework- Bricklayer

Overview

Bricklayers are responsible for setting out buildings by laying bricks, and pre-cut stone, concrete blocks and other types of building blocks in mortar in accordance with approved house building plans. They build and repair walls, chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative work such as archways. They might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects and repair foundations. Bricklayers work outdoors and may have to work at heights or in tunnels and shafts.
