Skills Frameworks

Train to a standard - We are committed to ensuring that all of our workforce are trained and qualified to a recognised industry standard that equips them with the skills and experiences needed for their roles, meets our business needs and fosters a more positive working environment.’

Supporting and developing our workforce is crucial if we want to increase productivity and quality within the home building sector. Ensuring your employees are trained to agreed industry-wide standards can help you to drive efficiency and retain a quality focussed workforce.

The Skills Frameworks are currently being developed with our members and will be released through a phased approach.  CITB are also still working on agreeing some standards which will be added to the frameworks once available.

What are the Skills Frameworks?

The Home Building Skills Partnership, and members from its skills and development group, have created a series of minimum skills frameworks to help employers ensure employees are trained to a standard that equips them with the skills they need to perform their roles effectively.

These frameworks illustrate key competencies and training modules specifically for the home building sector that should be completed by employees.

What roles have frameworks?

The skills frameworks have been developed against key roles that are currently experiencing challenges either through skills gaps, skills shortages or both. We are currently developing these skills frameworks and will be releasing them through a phased approach. 

How does it work?

Once you choose a role below, the skills framework will provide you with a list of competencies needed to perform that role effectively. Each competency will provide the unit of training needed, the standard it complies with and where you can book the course along with costings. The framework is available in digital and pdf format to meet your employee’s needs.

There are also a number of workforce development tools available for employers to help with recruitment, performance evaluation and the induction of new staff.
