Michael joined the Department in 2010, and has led the work on several areas of planning reform, including the planning aspects of the 2017 housing White Paper and the 2018 review of the National Planning Policy Framework. A professional planner, prior to joining MHCLG he was Head of Development & Infrastructure at the Government Office for the East of England, where he worked across planning, housing and transport issues in the region.
