Home Building Skills Partnership

The Home Building Skills Partnership (HBSP) was set up by the Home Builders Federation in 2016 (initially funded by CITB) and is a collaboration of home builders and supply chain organisations working together to attract and develop the workforce of the future and in doing so change the culture of the home building sector.

HBF Sector Plan

The Skills Partnership has developed a sector skills plan, with six of the largest home builder members. The plan reflects the priorities and activities needed to attract and develop the workforce of the future, and in doing so change the culture of the home building industry.

The plan highlights the industries main priorities in achieving a real measurable difference and has also been referenced against both the CITB and CLC strategic plans

The long term key aims of the Partnership focus on:

Ultimately, the objective is to instigate a shift in culture and behaviour at all levels of the home building industry – from the major home builders, right through to SMEs. Together we can achieve that.

Women into Site Management Roles

The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has teamed with Women into Construction to launch a nationwide employment programme for women, helping to address the gender imbalance in the construction workforce, which currently sees just 16% female representation.

Working closely with employers Barratt Developments, Bellway Homes, Cala Homes, The Hill Group, Keepmoat, Persimmon Homes, Redrow, St. Modwen and Vistry Group, the project hopes to attract women into Site Management roles by offering a unique funded programme that will provide support with childcare and training costs to make the opportunity more accessible.
