Regional Planning

The Assembly encourages authorities to work together to consider cross border planning issues and to assist authorities in drawing up the strategic policies of their Unitary Development Plans/Local Development Plans.  The system is voluntary and has no formal process or status. 

Groups:

• South East Wales Strategic Planning Group

• South West Wales Strategic Planning Group

• Mid Wales Strategic Planning Forum

• North Wales Regional Group

A similar system has been used to prepare Waste Guidance across Wales.

The Wales Spatial Plan is likely to drive regional work in the future.
