The government has this week published details of 600 acres of surplus public sector land as part of its drive to deliver tens of thousands of new homes and boost local growth. The Land Development and Disposal Plan is available to download here.
The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has more than 80 public land sites for sale now, and will bring a further 40 sites to market over the next 18 months. Over 20% of the sites available now already have outline or detailed planning permission.
The HCA worked closely with the HBF last year, in a bid to improve the way they bring public land to the market. As a result, the Government’s land agency for England will release details of land for sale quarterly, setting out a regular pipeline of disposals to help house builders and local partners plan ahead.
And by combining their land and investment programmes, they can make improvements to these sites, to speed up sale or development.
And sign up to their blog for stories and expert comment – this week, Chis Tinker, Board Director & Regeneration Chairman at Crest Nicholson tells the HCA why working with the public sector can be key to developing difficult sites.
