The HBF has today published a report on ‘The economic potential of housebuilding in Wales’ which highlights the economic benefits of building more new homes in Wales. This marks the beginning of increased activity in the lead up to the Welsh elections in the spring.
The headline findings of the research detail the potential benefits of meeting the housing needs of Wales. These include:
25,000 new jobs
Almost £10m in additional education funding
£7.5m extra funding for local authorities through Council Tax
Mark Harris, HBF’s Planning and Policy Advisor for Wales was interviewed on BBC Radio Wales’ Good Morning Wales programme this morning to explain the findings of the research and describe how Welsh Government and local authorities could do more to support an increase in house building. It has also already been reported on by ITV Wales.
The report, which has been sent to media and politicians, is available in both English and Welsh.
