We very much hope you will be able to join us as we reflect on what was an extraordinary and very busy year. In the early part of the year we were under acute pressure from Government to deliver more homes. We held numerous meetings with ministers and officials looking at what measures all parties could take to increase housing supply. These led to the Statement of Intent we jointly issued with Government and our major members outlining how we could achieve this common objective.
The referendum result of course threw everything up in the air. In the immediate aftermath, we held a series of meetings with ministers on what measures they could take to assist the industry to maintain supply in the event of a drop in demand. As it turned out the Brexit vote had little impact on demand and, once new ministers got up to speed, the pressure to build more homes quickly re-emerged.
Throughout the year we continued to press Government for measures to assist SME builders and to improve the planning system, many of which subsequently emerged earlier this year in the Housing White Paper.
We will be discussing all of these issues and more on the day and I very much hope you can join us. Should you wish to attend either meeting, please can you inform email@example.com
