My HBF

Taxation & Business

A unique partnership between the Home Builders Federation and Grant Thornton has been established to make first rate tax and business services available to the membership. Grant Thornton will provide a helpline service to the members of the Home Builders Federation (HBF) on HBF's behalf.

Grant Thornton will be providing specialist taxation and business related advice by way of a web based helpline.

About Grant Thornton

Grant Thornton is one of the leading accountancy firms in the UK with 31 offices, 240 partners and over 3,000 staff throughout the UK. Grant Thornton has built its reputation on working closely with their clients to fully understand their business, offering tailored advice, at competitive rates, to suit their particular requirements.

Grant Thornton's Property and Construction Industry Group concentrates on the issues facing the building and construction sector and can offer detailed advice to help minimise risk and maximise opportunities.

Grant Thornton is fully committed towards the provision of the helpline service to the members of the HBF.

The helpline service

The initial consultation via the helpline service, the cost of which will be covered by the HBF, has been designed to assist the members with any specific adhoc queries that take Grant Thornton up to 30 minutes to deal with. It will be accessible via the member's area of the HBF's website.

Where the assistance required is likely to take longer than the allotted time of 30 minutes or if detailed advice is required with regard to specific issues, Grant Thornton will be happy to provide an estimate of their fees to the member who can then decide whether or not they wish to engage the services of Grant Thornton directly.

Specifically, the Grant Thornton helpline can assist you in areas such as:

  • Employment tax and benefits
  • Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Employment status
  • HM Revenue & Customs investigations
  • VAT compliance
  • VAT inspections
  • Tax compliance
  • Stamp duty land tax
  • Capital allowances claims
  • Inheritance tax planning
  • Capital gains tax
  • Business structuring
  • Succession planning
  • Business sales and purchases
  • Re-financing
  • Own or client business distress

Additionally, Grant Thornton will be, from time to time, guest speakers on tax and other industry related matters at seminars hosted by the HBF. Grant Thornton is also committed to keeping the members up-to-date on any relevant tax or business issues by way of email alerts.

This is a unique opportunity for the members to have access to a highly skilled professional team at one of the leading advisory firms in the UK.

As mentioned, it is intended for this service to be a web-based service which will be accessible via the members' area of the HBF website. In the meantime, should members wish to access this service, please forward an email to Fiona Attryde at the following email address, fiona.attryde@hbf.co.uk.
