London Planning
Region Spatial Strategy
Planning in London operates on 2 tiers:
The Mayor / Greater London Authority produces the London Plan which was produced in February 2004 and has recently been partially altered in respect of housing and waste policies. The housing alterations increase the annual rate of new housing in London to a minimum of 30,650 per year. The London Plan is the Spatial Development Strategy for London. The London Plan is supported by a variety of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) and Best Practice Guidance to be issued by the Mayor.
A formal full review of the London Plan has commenced and will be subject to public inquiry during the summer.
