Planning Policy

HBF actively campaigns for a planning system that delivers the right homes, of the right types, in the right places. HBF has high level contact with both the Ministerial team and officials responsible for planning policy at a national, regional and local level, ensuring that the views of the industry are heard at the stage of policy formulation.

National planning

Planning at a national level in HBF deals primarily with the work of Communities and Local Government Communities contributing to the formulation and implementation of national planning policy.

Seeking to ensure that planning is used as a positive facilitator of change rather than a brake on development is at the forefront of the work of the HBF with central government.

As major stakeholders in the planning process, HBF represents the housebuilding industry on a number of working parties and steering groups producing good practice guidance and guides for both emerging and extant government policy.

In consultation with the membership through a national committee, the HBF ensures that regional views and issues are effectively represented at Central Government level.

In this important policy area, vital to the day to day work of our membership, HBF can make effective representations on behalf of the industry close to where those major policy decisions are being made.
