Health & Safety

Charter

Following the Construction Safety Summit on 27 February 2001, the HBF's Health and Safety Working Group with the Housebuilders' Health and Safety Forum formulated Revitalising Health and Safety Targets, which were published early in 2003.  The group then set up a small sub-committee to review this Charter and to liaise with HSE, NHBC, NHF, CPA and CABE.

The HBF's Health and Safety Charter was launched in May 2004 in association with these organisations and was accompanied by an Action Plan.

The Action Plan has since been revised and developed. There are seven different topics in the Action Plan, dealt with by seven working parties:

  • Increasing the consideration given to health and safety during the design phase
  • Engaging with our contractors, material suppliers, employees and other workers
  • Increasing occupational health awareness
  • Using accurate statistics and intelligence to target effective improvement
  • Protecting our customers, visitors and neighbours
  • Co-operating with others to develop and promote best practice
  • Promoting this charter and encouraging others to share our vision.

Copies of the action plans are available under Published Information.

Companies wishing to sign up should e-mail sian.lewis@hbf.co.uk with a copy of their logo (plus the name and title of the signatory if they want to specify) and HBF will supply an electronic Certificate.
